Blogging And The Importance Of Good Keyword Research
Blogging is an amazing way to earn money online and it is quite simple, however, if no-one ever sees your blog then you aren’t likely to make much money from it. If you are blogging in a niche that has millions of results in Google for the keyword search term, then there is a good chance that with all that competition that you’re blog will be lost somewhere in those millions of results and never get seen.
So does that mean you shouldn’t choose a popular niche that has lots of competition?
No, of course not, you can successfully earn money with a blog even if it is in a niche with a lot of competition. The key to doing it is to do good keyword research.
You see, many people will just choose the main keyword and start a blog around that keyword. For example, just say I wanted to try the ‘acne’ niche, if I just got a blog with ‘acne’ in the name and based my blog around that one keyword, then it isn’t going to do very well.
Acne has over 23 million results in Google and that is a lot of competition.
However, if you do some research you should be able to find a good long tail keyword phrase that has less competition. You still want to make sure that it has enough searches every month to make it a good choice.
Doing some research I found the keyword phrase ‘how to rid of pimples’, this phrase has 727,000 results in Google and just 7 results when searched in quotes - this is an amazingly good number. Then if you look in the Google Keyword Tool you will find that this keyword phrase has 27,000 searches a month - I probably shouldn’t give this keyword phrase away, as with those numbers it is a great phrase.
Now, if you can get a domain with that url, howtoridofpimples.com or .net, .org or .info and created a blog using that keyword phrase instead of the main keyword ‘acne’ then you will do much better. A well researched keyword phrase can make all the difference in how successful your blog will be.
So if you are considering blogging to make money online then make sure you do your keyword research before jumping into it. It really will pay off in the long term.
Good luck
