Many people start their blogs on hosted platforms.  Hosted blogging solutions can be a good way to start, because they’re free and they’re generally trusted in the search engines.  But there are perils associated with hosting a blog on someone else’s server.

For one thing, you’re at the mercy of the owner of the platform.  Blogger has been known to delete blogs without warning, simply because they felt the blog was too much like spam or too commercial.

WordPress doesn’t allow affiliate links to be used on their blogs, so making money by hosting a blog on their servers is difficult. Ideally, you should start your blog on your own server, preferably in the root of the domain.

Your keyword choices are critical to your success in nearly any online business model.  Whether you’re pursuing PPC, blogging, VRE and AdSense, or any number of Internet marketing opportunities, the keywords you choose can make or break your success.

Keywords are important for several reasons.  First of all, there’s traffic.  If you choose the wrong keywords to target, you’re probably not going to get nearly as much traffic as you’d like.  Whether you’re using PPC or search engines to get your traffic, your keywords are going to affect your ranking and link performance.

Blogs are a fantastic way to make money.  They perform well in search engines, they’re easy to promote, and they can offer very sticky content.  If you blog often, and you’re good at what you do, you could develop a pretty large following of readers who subscribe to your RSS feed and read your content on a daily basis.

One of the biggest keys to success with blogs is posting in them regularly.  If you don’t post regularly, you probably won’t get much traffic, and people won’t return.  Posting frequently also keeps your content fresh, and search engines love fresh content.

The more often you post, the more often the spiders will visit your site.  And every time you post, you can ping your site at the various ping locations.  This can also bring in more traffic.

Blogging is an amazing way to earn money online and it is quite simple, however, if no-one ever sees your blog then you aren’t likely to make much money from it.  If you are blogging in a niche that has millions of results in Google for the keyword search term, then there is a good chance that with all that competition that you’re blog will be lost somewhere in those millions of results and never get seen.

So does that mean you shouldn’t choose a popular niche that has lots of competition?

I have just received access to month 3 of The Niche Blogger tutorials. I haven’t had a chance to start working on month 3 as yet but having a quick glance through it, it looks very good and I am quite excited to get started on this months work.

So far my blogs are doing ok, yesterday I made a Clickbank sale with a commission of $46 US and this month so far I’ve made around $5 in Adsense earnings, so my Adsense earnings are gradually increasing all the time which is great. Read the rest of this entry »

It can be quite exciting finding ways to make money fast, but quite scary at the same time.  With the internet, there certainly are many ways to make money these days.  The scary bit is that earning income is never guaranteed and therefore you can be taking a risk in getting the money you need within the time frame that you need it.
