Email Marketing

Email Marketing really can take your business to a whole new level. I’m sure you have heard the saying ‘The Money Is In The List’, well it is very true and if you don’t have a mailing list then you are missing out on a huge number of sales.

I put off starting a mailing list for a long time for two reasons. The first reason was at that time I didn’t really know what I was doing and didn’t know where to start with creating a mailing list. The second reason was the cost of joining an autoresponder program.

Then one day I finally bit the bullet and joined Getresponse and have never looked back. Getresponse costs me about $18 a month and you know I only need to make one sale from my list a month and that cost is covered. My list is continually growing and so too are the sales that I make.

My only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner. Once you have subscribers you have a ready made customer base that you can promote products to at any time, it really does make marketing a whole lot easier.

Where do you start with Email Marketing?

The first thing you need to do is to join a program like GetResponse or Aweber and then set up your campaigns. When you select a campaign you will get a html code to put into your website to create an optin box for your visitors to sign up to.

When building your mailing list the best thing to do is to offer your visitors a free gift that they will receive once they have opted in to your list. Make sure that the free gift is related to the topic of your website and is of good value.

There are two ways to set up your optin box and I suggest you do both. The first one is to have an optin box on the homepage of your website or blog. Usually they are placed in the sidebar near the top of the page so they are easily visible.

The second way is to have a squeeze page. This is a page set up for the sole purpose of getting customers to sign up to your list. It should be brief but include a bit of a ’sales pitch’ to encourage your visitors to sign up. It will also need to include the optin box for them to opt in to.

When you send emails to your subscribers be careful not to ’spam’ them with constant promotions. Give them good quality emails with the occasional promotion. This will help to build a good relationship with your subscribers and help you to gain their trust, then they will be more willing to purchase products that you do recommend to them.
